Tamworth residents are being encouraged to shop locally and support independent businesses in their town as part of the national Small Business Saturday on 7th December.
As in previous years, Tamworth Borough Council is offering free car parking at all council-run car parks.
Small Business Saturday is a national campaign, which highlights small businesses and takes place on the first Saturday in December, but it aims to have a lasting impact throughout the rest of the year.
As well as free parking, the council is encouraging shoppers to visit market traders, independent retailers, artists and crafters to give local business owners as much of a boost as possible in December.
A Christmas craft market will showcase local talent in the Saxon Suite at Tamworth Assembly Rooms, while Bert and Gert’s market at Ankerside shopping centre will host a fantastic festive pop-up.
Free parking dates in Tamworth: 7th and 21st December 2024 (council-owned car parks only)
Cllr Nova Arkney, portfolio holder for local economy, said: “Supporting the town centre is a priority for us.
“We made the decision to waive parking charges on these two very busy days because we want to support local businesses, help boost town centre trade, and also encourage people to join in with our free and low-cost festive activities.
“There has been a lot of support for Small Business Saturday in previous years and I hope that Tamworth people will support it again this year.
“Please tell your family and friends so we can make this the busiest Christmas for the town centre ever.”
