Retailers have reopened, and it’s all systems go for the countdown to Christmas.
With such a condensed Christmas season, Wilmslow Town Council says local businesses need the support of local residents to give the town the boost it needs at the end of such a difficult year.
As the businesses reopen they are fully geared up for Christmas, with social distancing and hygiene measures in place – all be keen to see people shopping locally and protecting our high street.
Following a request from the town council, Cheshire East Council has agreed that parking will be free of charge in the Hoopers car park, Sainsbury’s car park and Spring Street car park on the two Saturdays leading up to Christmas (12th and 19th December).
The period of free parking will commence at 10am on both days.
(Nope – we’ve got no idea why the free parking isn’t available until 10am!)
Martin Watkins, chair of Wilmslow Town Council said: “It has been an incredibly difficult year, not least for our high street traders and it is vital that if we want a vibrant town centre going forwards that we support it now when it needs our help.
“It is vital that we shop safely and sensibly but how better to do that than to stay local and I hope that the free car parking will provide further incentive.”
