Prime Minister Boris Johnson received his first dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine today (19th March).
Mr Johnson expressed his gratitude to medical staff, saying: “Thank you to all of the incredible scientists, NHS staff and volunteers who helped make this happen.”
He added: “Getting the jab is the best thing we can do to get back to the lives we miss so much.
“Let’s get the jab done.”
Mr Johnson took to social media earlier in the week to tell the nation that both the jabs currently being offered in the UK are safe.
He added that it’s important for people to take up the offer of receiving a jab when their turn comes.
Also this week, the government has confirmed that the UK is presently on track with the roadmap for lifting restrictions by the summer.
