Tatton MP Esther McVey has welcomed chancellor Rishi Sunak’s announcement of government support for the thousands of self-employed people across the area.
The chancellor announced today a package of support for the self-employed.
Ms McVey said: “I am delighted Rishi has now made it clear that there is help available for self-employed people as I know many people have been concerned and in touch with me.
“I wrote to the chancellor last week urging support for these hard-working people and it is right government has acted .
“I am pleased one of the announcements including one of the measures I suggested including a level playing field of paying up to 80% of profit up to £2,500 a month as we are doing for businesses.”
Ms McVey added: “Everyone needs to be supported through this difficult time and it is right we offer the self-employed help as we have done for businesses.
“People have contacted me concerned about how they will pay their bills and I hope today’s announcement will help reassure them, there is help available to them.”
Ms McVey wrote to the chancellor urging him to offer packages to the self-employed like those offered to employees, which pay a percentage of the salary up to a maximum amount per month.
