Following damage caused by a vehicle impact a few weeks ago, temporary traffic lights are currently in place on the A41 at Milton Green as a safety precaution.
In order to carry out repairs to the sandstone wall and road edge at the grade II listed bridge, Cheshire West and Chester Council will need to close the road overnight at Milton Green.
The closures will be on 4th and 5th March and are also planned from 16th-28th March, from 7pm in the evening to 5.30am in the morning.
A signed diversion route will send traffic towards Nantwich via the A51, and A534.
Note: the section of the A49 between Ridley and Tarporley has a low bridge at Beeston/Tiverton (4.3m, 14ft 3in).
Cllr Karen Shore, CWAC deputy leader, explained: “The closures are necessary because the road is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely using lane closures only.
“We apologise for any inconvenience these closures cause.”
