Three hundred of the most remarkable British Muslims have been shortlisted as finalists for the eighth British Muslim Awards – including Wilmslow’s Hannan Sarwar.
Mr Sarwar is a town councillor on Wilmslow Town Council and has been sharing his experiences as the UK’s youngest Muslim councillor with our readers.
The British Muslim Awards exist to recognise a wide range of achievements from inspiring individuals, and winners will be revealed at the end of the month.
A glitzy ceremony will be held at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester, where some of the most accomplished and influential British Muslims will gather to celebrate their successes.
The shortlist includes those who’ve positively impacted business, charity, sport, arts, culture, religious advocacy, education and medicine.
The event will acknowledge those who battled negative stereotypes by being unapologetically themselves and the awards are seen as a major showcase for the British Muslim community.
Muslims will be celebrated for their impact on our culture and for their achievements over the last year.
Wilmslow’s Cllr Sarwar is shortlisted in the category of ‘Young Achiever of the Year’ and we wish him all the best, along with congratulations on his nomination.
