Trentham to host Chinese New Year celebration

Shares

The Trentham Estate is set to host a special day of activities to celebrate Chinese New Year later this month.

There’ll be food stalls, a dragon parade and free craft classes on Sunday 22nd January to mark the Year of the Rabbit – which is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture.

Trentham Shopping Village will host a series of celebrations – including Chinese-themed food stalls serving snacks such as salt and pepper fries, sweet and sour chicken, spring rolls and stir fry noodles.

Between 11am and 4pm visitors can catch a glimpse of the dancing dragon parade.

There will also be a range of free craft activities for children – including a Chinese lantern making workshop hosted by local Scouts and Support Staffordshire, and a chance to learn how to write their name in Chinese.

The coming year represents a year of hope in Chinese culture and, in keeping with this theme there will be a positive affirmations tree positioned in the visitor centre for people to give and receive positive messages.

Kerrie Pope, head of events at Trentham, said: “We’re so excited to be hosting our first Chinese New Year celebration.

“It will be the perfect opportunity to blow away those January cobwebs and beat the blues, with activities for everyone to enjoy and get the whole family out and about.”
