Tatton Park will remain open throughout November as the country heads into its second national lockdown.
It’s a welcome reversal of the policy which saw the park’s gates remain closed earlier in the year, during the so-called ‘first wave’ of coronavirus cases in the UK.
Bosses have reviewed their plans and government guidance when making their decision on how to respond to the second set of lockdown restrictions.
Both the parkland and gardens, situated on the outskirts of Knutsford, will remain open to visitors as normal during the lockdown period (ie: from Thu 5th Nov to Wed 2nd Dec).
Other visitor facilities – including toilets – will also remain open, as will the Stables takeaway and Housekeeper’s Store for refreshments and estate produce.
The farm
The farm is unable to open to visitors during the lockdown period.
If you have booked farm tickets for any weekend during November, these will be automatically refunded within 28 days.
If your booking for the farm included tickets to the parkland or gardens in the same transaction, these will automatically be cancelled and refunded at the same time.
If you still wish to visit the parkland or gardens (which will remain open) you will need to rebook and repay.
Father Christmas at the farm
Father Christmas will not be able to visit the farm on the weekend of 28th/29th November.
Tickets to this event (28th/29th Nov only) will be automatically refunded within 28 days.
Other dates for Father Christmas at the farm – after the lockdown ends – are currently scheduled to continue as planned.
The event is now completely sold out, so it isn’t possible to move tickets for the cancelled dates to another date in December.
If your booking for the Farm on 28th/29th November included tickets to the parkland or gardens in the same transaction, these will automatically be cancelled and refunded at the same time.
If you still wish to visit the parkland or gardens (which will remain open) you will need to rebook and repay.
Changing or cancelling a booking
If you have already paid for a ticket and have decided that you would prefer not to visit Tatton Park during the lockdown period, you can either:
- transfer your visit to another day at any time over the next 12 months (you will be sent a complimentary Totally Tatton Ticket which gives you entry to the gardens, mansion and farm)
or
- contact Tatton Park for a refund of your ticket purchase
National Trust members
If you are a National Trust member who has booked free garden entry, you can use your pre-paid vehicle park entry tickets at any time over the next 12 months.
Christmas at Tatton
Apart from Father Christmas the farm on 28th/29th November, all Christmas festivities are still scheduled to go ahead in December (including Holly’s Garden Feast from 28 Nov) as advertised.
Tatton Park’s social media team will communicate any changes on their Twitter and Facebook pages and website, so please keep an eye out for updates.
Enjoy a safe visit
Things may look a little different from the last time you visited, as the team has implemented new safety measures.
Here’s what you can expect:
- All visits to Tatton Park’s gardens must be pre-booked online in advance of your visit to help reduce queues and limit the numbers
- Hand sanitising stations across the site
- Safe (and one-way) queueing systems
- Screens at all payment points
- Increased cleaning regimes
- Following government advice, visitors must wear a face covering where appropriate (unless exempt)
