Tamworth Community Gospel Choir has successfully reached its crowdfunding goal for a project which will bring gospel music and creative arts to residents across Tamworth borough.
The project received support from residents alongside match funding from Tamworth Borough Council through the government’s community recovery fund.
As part of the initiative, the choir will run a series of free sessions plus craft workshops and a public performance.
The programme will be open to people of all ages and backgrounds – with the final showcase bringing together the music and artwork created to celebrate the contributions of everyone involved.
‘Lasting connections’
“We are so grateful for the support this project has received,” said Heather Marrie, the choir’s secretary.
“Joy, Hope and Harmony is all about giving people the chance to come together, express themselves and feel uplifted through music and art.
“Thanks to the generosity of our community and the support of Tamworth Borough Council, we can now create something truly special and inclusive for local people.”
Councillor Sarah Daniels, from the council, said she hoped the event would build lasting connections.
“It’s really exciting to see projects like Joy, Hope and Harmony that not only bring people together but give them the chance to create something meaningful,” she said.
“We are proud to back this work and look forward to seeing the impact it will have across Tamworth.”
The scheme is part of the wider We Are Tamworth programme – funded by £600,000 from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, and created following the civil unrest in Tamworth on 4th August 2024.
Its aim is to enhance community cohesion and rebuild social trust.
