A north Staffordshire theatre group is preparing to bring its biggest and most ambitious pantomime to the stage for five nights this Christmas.
Stoke Amateur Theatre Society is due to present Beauty and the Beast at the King’s Hall in Stoke from 4th to 8th December.
They’re promising to dazzle audiences with stunning sets, vibrant costumes and heaps of family fun.
The beloved fairy tale will come with a local twist and, as it’s the company’s biggest production of the year, it’s also set to be Stoke-on-Trent’s largest amateur pantomime this Christmas.
A cast of talented local performers has been busy rehearsing the lavish choreography, spectacular musical numbers, and classic audience interaction which make pantomimes so much fun.
“Beauty and the Beast is a tale as old as time, but we’re telling it in a way that’s fresh, fun, and uniquely our own,” said the show’s director Joanna Vardy.
“This is a real community effort – from the cast to the set and costume designers, and even the volunteers backstage.
“It’s truly a show by Stoke-on-Trent, for Stoke-on-Trent. We can’t wait to share the magic with our audiences.”
The spectacle has been months in the making, with local businesses lending their support to help build elaborate sets and stitch together the glittering costumes.
From the majestic castle of the Beast to the charming French town where Belle’s story begins, audiences will be transported to a world of enchantment and laughter.
And, since no pantomime would be complete without a dame, theatre-goers can expect side-splitting humour and plenty of audience participation when the curtains go up.
