Support for pre and postnatal mums at Enderby Leisure and Golf Centre

Two new fitness initiatives have been launched to support pre and postnatal mums.

Enderby Leisure and Golf Centre recently launched an adult and baby fitness class as a low-impact way for mums to get exercise while having their babies alongside them.

After classes, little ones are able to use the soft play at no extra charge.

In addition, the centre has also set up a pilot scheme that supports 10 prenatal mums by offering them free swimming sessions.

Swimming is widely recognised as a safe and beneficial form of exercise during pregnancy as the buoyancy of water helps support body weight – reducing strain on joints and alleviating swelling, while providing a gentle and effective workout.

“We are proud to support pre and postnatal mums from the local community and to help them be active during hugely important months in their lives,” said James Naylor, Everyone Active’s area contract manager.

“We look forward to welcoming mums to our centre and providing the fantastic activities which allow them to improve their physical health and mental wellbeing.”

Cllr Nick Chapman, Blaby District Council portfolio holder for health and community, said the authority recognised that keeping active during and after pregnancy was hugely beneficial for both mum and baby.

“We are fortunate here in Blaby district that we have wonderful fitness facilities including an amazing swimming pool at Enderby Leisure Centre which can be used to help our communities improve their health and wellbeing,” he said.
