Shop like your high street depends on it – because it does!

Right now, it couldn’t be more crucial to keep independent businesses running, on high streets up and down the country.

The Totally Locally Fiver Fest, which runs 10th-24th October 2020, now encompasses more than 100 towns all coming together to encourage locals and visitors to spend £5 (or more) and bag themselves a bargain!

The rationale behind it is simple: if every adult in the UK shifted just £5 of their weekly spend away from supermarkets and into local shops, it’s estimated that it would be worth around £13.5 billion for small businesses.

It’s important to recognise that this is money which goes directly back into the localities themselves too, it doesn’t sit in the coffers of large multinational firms.

Advocates say this approach helps bring about support for real jobs, vibrant high streets and nicer places to live.

And, as So Counties Ltd is also an independent business, we wholeheartedly agree!

We stand shoulder to shoulder with small business owners across the UK and we encourage our readers to do the same.

The Fiver Fest is solely for independently-owned businesses. It isn’t for big chain stores, supermarkets or multinational companies.

It’s been designed to support those who contribute directly into the local economy of their town.

Spending just £5 per week in a local independent shop or business will make a huge difference to your town’s economy.

Go on, give it a go – start the habit during this year’s Fiver Fest and then make the change permanent.
