Staff at Tatton Park farm have been celebrating a bumper batch of baby births recently.
They’ve had a number of new additions to their rare breed farm animals – and it’s come just in time for the summer influx of visitors too.
A spokesperson for the fair said: “We are proud to say that the farm at Tatton Park has Approved Conservation Centre status from the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST).
“This means that our extremely dedicated farm team work hard to protect the rare breed animals living on the farm whilst supporting the important work of the RBST who monitor, save, and promote UK native livestock.
“The recent baby boom is brilliant news for the breeds as many animals at the farm at Tatton Park are on the RBST watchlist.”
Summer is the perfect time for visitors to head down to the farm to meet all the new additions and learn about how they’re cared for.
There’s a programme of events running until 26th August.
There will be opportunities to meet the chicks, meet the goat kids, join in with storytelling, watch sheep racing, and take part in Taster Tuesdays.
Standard farm entry applies – there is no extra charges for the daily events. Usual farm opening times apply – closed Mondays.
Babies born recently at Tatton Park’s farm include:
Pigs
Saddleback sisters, Susie and Skye, gave birth in tandem on 22nd and 23rd July.
It is their first time at being mums, and visitors are urged to stop by while the piglets are still small.
Cows
Guernsey cow Nancy had a gorgeous heifer calf on 18th July who’s been named Gracie.
There’s also a Hereford calf called Hetty who very sadly lost her mum and is being hand reared.
Goats
Golden Guernsey goats, Amber and Honey, have both given birth to twin goat kids in July.
Amber has had two girls – called Ruby and Sapphire – while Honey has two boys called Alfie and Alby.
