Losing a loved one can turn your world upside down and make you feel lost. Talking about how you feel can often help.
The Bereavement Service will be running a pop-up ‘Bereavement Cafe’ on Wednesday 6th June (2-4pm) at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Backford, Chester.
The pop-up Bereavement Cafe is not counselling, nor is it a support group. It is an informal drop in session for anyone living in Chester, Ellesmere Port, West Cheshire and Deeside.
The Bereavement Cafe provides a space to talk about the pain of loss as well as the opportunity to find strength in knowing you are not alone.
Maybe you worry about saying the wrong thing, have concerns about a loved one, are struggling to decide if how you feel is ‘ok’ or just want to think about grief in general.
Anyone who is coping with bereavement following the death of a loved one – regardless of when, where or how they died – is welcome to attend and talk about bereavement openly.
It’s also an opportunity to learn more about what bereavement might feel like or how it might impact those left behind, and to find out more about how to support someone who is bereaved.
The bereavement team will be on hand to chat and to answer questions and there will be information provided too, including lists of local and national support agencies.
There will also be a memory tree, where you can leave a favourite memory of a loved one, or just take a moment to remember.

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd is a local charity which provides dedicated end-of-life care for the people of Cheshire West and Chester and Deeside.
The charity also supports patients’ families, including their children, and has a bereavement team who are specialists in dealing with children and young adults.
