Plans are well under way for the 106th Wilmslow Show, which takes place this year on Sunday 8th July at its new home on the Carnival Fields.
The Wilmslow Show, which is the largest annual community event in the town, brings together local businesses, charities and community groups to provide an afternoon of entertainment for the whole family.
Organisers are especially keen to promote the ‘fun day’ element of the show and this year are promising that there will be even more variety of things to do for all the family.
Angela McPake, who takes over as the chairman this year, said: “Last year we got a really good idea of where on the ground we had room to add more attractions and this year are making the most of that.
“Amongst other things, we are delighted that Wilmslow Football Academy are joining us to run ‘zorbing’ sessions for our more energetic guests.
“For those who would rather have a more sedate afternoon, the number of animals on display will also be growing.
“We are adding new attractions daily and aim to give people a review, via our Facebook page, of what they can expect to see at the show.”
Booking has now opened for trade and charity stalls and entries have already been received for the car show.
Application forms can be found on the show’s website and numbers are limited so those wishing to exhibit are wanted not to leave it too late to apply!
Support from Wilmslow Town Council has meant that a number of charities and community groups are able to attend the show and some of the games will be free to play once you enter the showground.
Organisers are also on the hunt for more corporate sponsorship to enable the show to continue to grow.
Angela said: “We have been lucky to have a number of companies that support us every year but we always need more.”
She added: “Our dog arena has been sponsored by Barkers for several years but they are leaving Wilmslow this year so we are currently ‘sponsor-less’ for that arena.”
