Knutsford perfumer Peter Murray has been shortlisted as a ‘High Street Hero’ in the 2019 Great British High Street (GBHS) awards.

The awards form a national competition run by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

The High Street Hero category highlights exceptional independent business owners or employees who run initiatives and programmes to improve the high street experience for all.

Knutsford Town Council’s town centre manager Sandra Curties nominated Peter in July to recognise his drive, enthusiasm and energy.

She said his passion shines through, not just for his business but also for Knutsford as well as his charity endeavours for Cystic Fibrosis foundation.

Peter commented: “This nomination has come completely out of the blue.

“I am completely overwhelmed and would like to thank Sandra and Knutsford Town Council for the nomination and their belief in our small, independent business.

“We love living and working in Knutsford and to shortlisted for this national award is the icing the cake.”

An independent judging panel will review the shortlisted entries to select winners.

All those shortlisted will be invited to an awards ceremony in Edinburgh in November.
