Local radio station, The Cat 107.9FM, recently presented their seventh monthly Local Legend award, which follows on from the weekly Community Hero Award that the radio station ran earlier in the Covid-19 pandemic.

The most recent Local Legend award was presented to Cheshire community journalist, Jonathan White.

In his 15 years as a community journalist, Jonathan has written more than 1,500 articles and taken thousands of photographs to publicise local events and organisations.

Jonathan is also a keen photographer and has been the Nantwich Town official photographer for five years.

It’s a voluntary role which allows him to support his club whilst taking photographs which are then used to illustrate match reports in the club’s programme and in local news.

Jonathan received his Local Legend certificate from Cat 107.9FM presenter David Foulkes.

White said: “I am proud and privileged to receive the award for my community journalism. I hope that people enjoy reading my news stories as much as I enjoy putting them together.”

Chris Cadman, managing director of The Cat said: “Jonathan has contributed to community in so many ways with his excellent photography, news editorials and as the photographer for Nantwich Town Football Club.

“t’s a real pleasure to be able to recognise him as our latest Local Legend. Congratulations Jonathan.”

The Local Legend Award looks to recognise the work of local individuals and organisations who have gone that extra mile in support of their communities.

The Cat is a Crewe and Nantwich based radio station, which broadcasts on 107.9 FM from Cheshire College – South and West to Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach and the surrounding area.
