MP urges veterans to take part in survey

MP for Macclesfield David Rutley is supporting a new Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) project to better inform the future shape and funding for the support given to armed service veterans in Cheshire East.

The project, undertaken by the JSNA team at Community and Volunteering Services Cheshire East (CVSCE) in conjunction with a range of key stakeholders, aims to gather information about the health and wellbeing needs of those who have served in the armed forces to identify where there may be any gaps in service provision.

As well as helping to set the direction for present and future support services, it presents an opportunity for ‘hidden veterans’ who have never previously engaged with local support services to make their voices heard.

Local armed forces veterans, as well as voluntary, community and faith sector organisations that work with former service personnel, are being encouraged to take part in the survey, which closes on Friday 6th July.

Mr Rutley believes it is imperative that they make their views on these issues known.

David commented: “It is vital that those who have served our country in the Armed Forces are properly supported and have access to the services they need.

“I therefore welcome this initiative and encourage local veterans to take part and make their views known, as doing so will help commissioners to provide more responsive and effective services in the future.”

The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete and can be found online at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/KFRGDSH.

Paper copies are available on request.
