Regular contributor Jonathan White kindly sent us these photos of Chester’s Midsummer Watch Parade (see: www.midsummerwatch.co.uk) which took place in Chester city centre on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June 2018.
The medieval parade dates from 1498, making it the country’s oldest and most colourful street parade.
Characters in the parade are based on descriptions from the city archives including their famous family of giants.
The parade on both days left Chester Town Hall Square at 2pm – continuing to St Werburgh Street, Eastgate St, Bridge Street, Pepper Street, St John’s Street, Eastgate Street and returning to the Town Hall for a finale via Northgate Street.
