Founded in 1957, the Macclesfield Model Railway Group holds its annual exhibition at Tytherington School each March for club members and visiting model enthusiasts.
The exhibition comprises of a series of ‘layouts’ (model railway arrangements) spanning the school’s dining room and assembly hall, as well as a number of specialist stalls and trade stands relevant to model building.
There’s also food and drink available, and a number of entertaining attractions for younger visitors.
This year’s exhibition takes place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March, and will be open 10am-5pm on Saturday, 10am-4.30pm on Sunday.
Entry to the exhibition is priced at £6 for adults and children under 16 enter free (though must be accompanied by an adult).
There is free parking and level access at the site, however this year visitors may wish to take advantage of the free heritage bus service running a schedule from the town centre to the exhibition. (Details of the route are available below.)
The bus will leave Macclesfield train station every half hour from 10am (except 1pm) and will leave Tytherington High School every half hour from 10.15am (except 12.45pm).
Last service on Saturday will be 5pm from the train station and 5.15pm from the school. Last service on Sunday will be 4pm from the station and 4.15pm from the school.
Shaun Horrocks, exhibition manager, has once again worked hard to bring together a wide range of layouts the ‘exhibition circuit’ has to offer, promising that there is ‘something for everyone’.
Exhibitors include: ABC Model Railways, Axminster Tools, Bespoke Sign & Print, Book Law Publications, Country Park Models, High Lane Model Railways, The Junction Box, North Western Models and many more.
