Macclesfield Barnaby recruiting pre-festival volunteers

Shares

Barnaby is back this June for its first fully in-person festival since the pandemic, and organisers say there is a lot to do to get ready for it!

They are looking for volunteers to help with the early planning and preparation, to work on a regular basis between February and June 2023.

They say the following three roles will be key in supporting the artistic director and the board to deliver a successful festival this year.

PR, Communications and Marketing Volunteer

Activities: Helping reignite the excitement around Barnaby. Updating the website (WordPress), reinvigorating social media engagement, drafting press releases, identifying marketing opportunities, helping create print materials (posters, leaflets, etc).

Time Commitment: 3 hours per week (February-June). Flexible when you do the work, but you need to be able to check in weekly (30 mins via phone) with the artistic director on Tuesday daytimes. Fully available festival weekend (16th – 18th June).

Where: Working remotely, with potential of working from the Barnaby office closer to the festival.

Barnaby Platform Volunteer

Activities: Barnaby Platform is an invitation to all creative groups and individuals in Macclesfield to put on an event of their own during festival weekend, in response to the theme: In a New Light. The Barnarby Platform volunteer will help launch the call out for this, liaise with participants, and compile the necessary information for Barnaby to advertise the events.

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per week (February-June). Flexible when you do the work, but you need to be able to check in weekly (30 mins via phone) with the artistic director on Tuesday daytimes. Fully available festival weekend (16th – 18th June).

Where: Working remotely, with potential of working from the Barnaby office closer to the festival.

Volunteer Coordinator

Activities: Planning the volunteer engagement and management for Barnaby 2023. Recruitment, building relationships, allocation of duties, scheduling, management.

Time Commitment: 2 hours per week (February-Easter), gradually increasing to approx 4-6 hours per week in the run-up to the festival. Fully available festival weekend (16th – 18th June).

Where: Working remotely, with potential of working from the Barnaby office closer to the festival.

If one of these roles sounds like something that would fit with your interests, skills and other commitments, please email volunteer@barnabyfestival.org.uk and briefly outline relevant experience and interests and what you’d like to get out of volunteering with Barnaby.
