Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner (PCC) is warning people there’s not much time left o apply to his Community Cashback Fund.
Local community groups, businesses, and members of the police family across Cheshire have until 9am on Friday (27th January) to submit their bids.
All applications must meet the funding criteria and support at least one of the six aims of the Police and Crime Plan:
- Prevent and tackle crime
- Make Cheshire’s roads safer
- Deliver justice for victims of crime
- Protect vulnerable and at-risk people
- Improve public confidence in policing
- Modernise our police service
The £90,000 fund is operated by PCC John Dwyer, and puts money seized from criminals made available to good causes across Cheshire’s nine local policing units (LPUs).
Each area will have a pot worth £10,000 to fund local projects.
Not-for-profit organisations such as charities, friends of groups, neighbourhood groups, social enterprises and community groups are encouraged to apply.
Local businesses and parish councils can also apply to the fund, as well as local policing teams themselves.
PCC John Dwyer, said: “Through the Community Cashback Fund, I want to make it possible for people to work with their local policing team to improve their communities, using money taken from criminals whose actions have negatively impacted those same communities.
“If you have an idea about how to make a real difference in your area then don’t delay, get your application in and let’s work together to make Cheshire even safer.”
Applications will be considered by a panel, including representatives from the local community, which will decide which projects to fund.
