Bosses at a Nottinghamshire leisure centre have unveiled an enhanced soft play facility.
The new space, at Kirkby Leisure Centre in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, is a fifth larger than before and includes a foam forest, mirri maze, soft ninja, log ramp and free jump area.
The soft play was already a well-used part of the centre, bosses said, adding that the improvements help address the needs of younger users and their families.
The work was part of a £207,000 investment by Ashfield District Council and Everyone Active.
It included the recent extension of the fitness suite, with 18 stations being added, while the building’s management system was also upgraded.
“Youngsters now have an amazing area in which to get active and boost their physical and mental wellbeing, all in a safe environment,” said Simon Morgan, Everyone Active’s area contract manager.
Cllr Chris Huskinson, Ashfield District Council’s leisure lead, added: “Our new soft play area at Kirkby Leisure Centre has so much more on offer and I know our young people will have a lot of fun exploring it.
“I am pleased to see the work has now been completed and is ready for the children to go on some new adventures.”
