If you’re starting this new year yearning to get more singing in your life, then High Peak Singers might just be what you’re looking for.

The friendly community choir is always on the lookout for new members – and their new term begins 20th January.

Launched in April 2022 by award-winning conductor Hannah Brine, the mixed-voice choir has an exciting rage of repertoire and performs regularly.

Everyone is welcome, and there are no auditions. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings (7-8.30pm) at St Mary’s Catholic Academy in New Mills.

“Everything anybody tells you about singing in a choir being uplifting and making you feel so good is telling you the absolute truth,” said choir member Becky Barron.

High Peak Singers’ founder and choir leader, Ms Brine, has worked with a number of groups across the country – including those who have performed at the BBC Proms, Royal Variety Show, Olivier Awards and other events.

“High Peak Singers is such a lovely group of people and we make wonderful music and have a lot of fun every Monday,” she said.

“We offer taster sessions – so if you aren’t quite sure if the choir is right for you, why not book one of those and try us out for size?”

High Peak Singers currently has about 70 members who sing a range of styles of music.
