Investment hopes for Alderley Park

Shares

Tatton MP Esther McVey met company bosses and owners of the Alderley Park site recently to discuss the unique skill base on the site and its position as part of the UK’s Industrial Strategy.

Alderley Park is the biggest life science centre in Europe and is home to £0.5 billion worth of state of the art laboratories.

It’s hoped that the site will be considered for a share of an £8 billion investment due to come to the UK from China.

To that end, Tatton MP Esther McVey, scheduled an urgent meeting with Greg Clark, secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy, to put in an early bid and to ensure that Tatton is considered and on the government’s radar.

One unique feature of Alderley Park is the globally significant expertise based there. With firms taking a product from concept to market, having on-site scientists with this unique commercial ability is a strong asset.

The site is also one of only a handful in the country with a catapult centre providing support for companies to rapidly grow, scale up and share laboratory equipment which would otherwise be prohibitively expensive.
