An iconic fish and chip shop in the centre of Northwich is to close its doors for the final time later this month.
Announcing the news on Facebook, the owners of The Seafarer said: “It is with much regret that the Seafarer Restaurant & Takeaway will cease trading.”
The Seafarer opened in April 1971 and has been run by its current owners since June 1975.
The Seafarer – a favourite of The Charlatans – will close for the last time on Sunday 23rd October.

No reason was given for the closure, but the owners said it has been a pleasure to serve the town and surrounding area.
They thanked customers and staff for their support and wished the town well for the future.
The social media post said: “It has been a pleasure to serve Northwich and the surrounding area for the last 50 years.
“May we take this opportunity to thank all our past and present customers for your loyal support.
“We would also like to thank our past and present staff for your commitment in creating a professional and fun environment over this time.”
They added: “We wish Northwich town and its community all the best for the future.”
