Over 66 million primary school children across the developing world attend classes hungry every day.
Rotary International’s mission is to help end hunger by 2030.
Locally, Wilmslow Rotarians and friends are being invited to join a ‘Rise Against Hunger – Mega Meal Packing Event’ on Sunday 15th April from 10.30am until 12 noon, or from 12.30pm until 2pm.
The event will be taking place at: Lacey Green Academy, Barlow Road, Wilmslow, SK9 4DP.
Rotarian Geoff Shelmerdine said: “In the year 2000, singer Heather Small sang ‘what have you done today to make you feel proud’, so wouldn’t it be an incredible achievement to say you helped to provide food for 20,000 hungry children – well you can.”
He explained: “We need 150 people to pack nutritious dried meals of rice, soy, lentils and essential minerals and vitamins to help change a child’s life forever.
“So, sign up today with your family and friends – we’ve planned a day of fun with a purpose and we guarantee you’ll go home feeling ‘proud’.”
