Residents, businesses and community groups in Handforth took part in the inaugural Handforth Scarecrow Festival over the Easter bank holiday weekend.
Handforth resident Janine Murphy, with the assistance of Julie Smith, organised the event to bring the community together and provide some lighthearted fun to the village over the Easter period.
In total, there were more than 130 colourful creations dotted all around Handforth.
Organiser Janine told So Cheshire: “When Handforth was unceremoniously put on the map last month due to its Zoom parish council meeting, I thought it would be good to try and organise something to bring our lovely little community together.
“I posted on a community Facebook page to see if anyone fancied doing scarecrows over Easter weekend… the response was much more than the couple of mums I thought would be game!
She added: “Handforth is a great place to live and comes together throughout the year. The support we have received for the scarecrow festival is testament to that.”
The judging panel included Rev Steve Burmester (the vicar at St Chad’s vicar) and Jackie Weaver (who shot to fame when the December 2020 meeting of Handforth Parish Council went viral in March this year).
And the winners are…
