Organisers of Goosfest are pleased to be announcing the welcome return of the festival, providing a variety of music and arts events at venues in and around Goostrey, near Holmes Chapel.

The year’s event takes place 7th-16th October, and highlights include…



Friday 7th October 2022

Alfie Moore: Fair Cop Unleashed

Join BBC Radio 4’s cop-turned-comedian Alfie Moore for his latest stand-up tour show.

Fair Cop Unleashed is based on a dramatic real-life incident from Alfie’s police casebook.

Relive with him the thrilling ups and downs of the night a mysterious clown came to town and more than one life ended up in the balance.

It was no laughing matter – but this show certainly is! Enjoy Alfie’s unique brand of humour hilariously woven together.

His personal insights into his life on the front-line of the police.

Snake Davis and his band in concert

After his last sell out appearance at Goosfest, organisers are thrilled to welcome Snake Davis back to this year’s festival.

Snake is a legend and one of the world’s most respected and in-demand saxophone players, working with some of music’s biggest artists such as: Eurythmics, M People, George Michael, Take That, Cher, Tina Turner and Beyonce.

Snake surrounds himself with professional musicians in an excellent band and will play many of the classics which feature classic saxophone solos. This show has it all!

‘And This Is My Friend Mr Laurel’ with Jeffrey Holland in his one man show

Jeffrey Holland (Hi-de-Hi, You Rang M’Lord) stars in this show about friendship, memories and a couple of remarkable lives.

Set in Oliver Hardy’s bedroom, the action takes place as Laurel pays a visit to his sick friend, recounting their past success as one of the greatest cinematic partnerships of the century and providing an in depth, humorous and touching account of the comedian’s life.

Fulfilling a long-held desire to pay tribute to his hero Stan Laurel, Jeffrey Holland tells this intriguing, funny and often poignant tale of friendship, love and dedication about one of Hollywood’s great film comedians.

Kathryn Tickell and The Darkening Concert

Goosfest welcomes Kathryn Tickell and the Darkening as part of their national tour,

The Darkening’ is the Northumbrian name for twilight, but this band’s music blazes fiercely.

Kathryn Tickell brings her stellar band to the stage. Pipes, fiddles, lyres and voices conjure up tunes and songs from ancient Northumbria, bringing them to life with new compositions and world-class musicianship.

Organ Spectacular – an organ recital by Jonathan Scott

Jonathan Scott is best-known locally as an organist at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, but he has a sparkling international career.

He performs on a wide range of keyboard instruments with a repertoire spanning over 500 years of music, including a catalogue of over 400 of his own transcriptions and arrangements.

Born in Manchester, Jonathan studied piano and organ at Chetham’s School of Music and continued his studies in the UK, USA and Netherlands.

He won the Worshipful Company of Musicians WT Best scholarship and gold medal, and is a freeman of The City of London.

Other events at Goosfest include the ever-popular Goosfest Buzz Comedy Night plus drama, workshops for painters and a lecture on the history of political cartoons.

Community events include a weekend art exhibition featuring 16 North West artists; a parish archives display about the village’s farming heritage; story-telling for children; and an autumn flower display from Goostrey Flower Club.

There is also lunch at The Swettenham Arms accompanied by musical entertainment; an afternoon tea at The Yellow Broom with entertainment from Royal Northern College of Music musicians, and a Greek supper to accompany an Abba tribute night.
