East Cheshire Hospice’s recent Light Up The Night walk at Capesthorne Hall was hailed a big success.
Hundreds of participants were joined by local MP David Rutley and a few famous faces as the sun set and dusk fell, to celebrate the lives of those no longer with us.
The event raises much-needed funds for the work of the Macclesfield-based charity.
The theme for this year’s event was ‘Light Up The Night’, with participants each carrying a lantern in memory of a loved one no longer with them.
Attendees were encouraged to personalise the lanterns with memories and messages to the person being remembered.
The route took participants through the grounds in loops of either 2.5km, 5km or 10km, according to ability.
Walkers were able to take part as individuals or in groups of friends and family.
Those who chose to could also opt to float their lantern on the moonlit lake at Capesthorne Hall, in celebration of the life of the person or people they were remembering.
The evening came to a spectacular conclusion with a firework display, truly helping to illuminate the sky in line with this year’s theme.
There was also music, entertainment, and food and drink available throughout the evening.
