Dementia Friendly Congleton, a sub group of Congleton Partnership, received £500 from a large property developer towards the cost of providing afternoon tea sessions to support those living with dementia.
Susan Munro, from Dementia Friendly Congleton, explained: “The group has been running for about two years with sessions in different locations across Congleton.
“Typically up to 20 people attend, aged from 50 upwards, and they enjoy tucking into afternoon teas, taking part in art sessions, dancing and swimming, amongst other activities.”
Susan added: “The people who attend say that the sessions help to alleviate the loneliness and feeling of being cut off from the community that is a huge part of living with dementia.”
The group also runs Dementia Friends information sessions to inform the public and local businesses about the issues surrounding living with dementia.
