Christmas lights ready to light up towns in Erewash

Shares

Christmas lights are being switched on in two Erewash towns this week.

This year, the events include “brilliant brass bands, dazzling dancers, captivating choirs and a marvellous magician!”

Visitors can look forward to seeing Silver Prize Brass Band, FSD Dance Academy and GEM Connection in Long Eaton.

Meanwhile, there are performances from Ilkeston Brass Band, Ledger Dance Studios and Grand Central Chorus in Ilkeston.

Cllr Becca Everett, who is lead member for community engagement at the council, said: “The Christmas lights switch-ons are a wonderful way to celebrate together in our town centres.

“They are a reminder of the ways we bring cheer to each other, especially as we find ourselves in the winter months.

“I especially look forward to the performances from local organisations. This is a great chance to show appreciation for their hard work and dedication to cultural activities.”

Erewash Borough Council bosses said performances would take place on a new stage this year, and that there would also be extra screens to provide a better view of the acts – allowing more attendees to enjoy the entertainment.

There will be a magician at both events, and fun fairs with rides and amusements for visitors of all ages. The mayor of Erewash and Father Christmas will also be attending both events.

Long Eaton’s Christmas lights event takes place on Thursday 27th November.

Ilkeston’s Christmas lights event takes place on Friday 28th November.

Both events start at 5.30pm and finish at 8.30pm.
