We’ve asked all of the candidates standing for election to Cheshire East Council to provide our readers with a short introduction to themselves.
We’ll publish these daily for all 52 council wards (in alphabetical order) in the build up to the local elections on 4th May 2023.

Listed below are all of the candidates seeking your vote in the Disley ward.
Voters in Disley can select one candidate to represent them on Cheshire East Council.

Sue Adams (Conservatives)
I have lived in Disley and Newtown for 36 years, have been a parish councillor for eight years and chair of Disley Parish Council for the past two years.
I was a governor of Disley Primary School for 14 years and was a member of the Disley and Newtown Neighbourhood Plan steering group.
I lead Disley Parish Council’s health and wellbeing and community bus project groups and support the weekly Cuppa an’ a Chat group.
I have recently helped set up the Disley Friends Social Group for carers and cared for. I am also an active member of the Friends of Disley Station.
I am a qualified management accountant and worked in a variety of different organisations, both large and small.
Since early retirement, I have had more time to get involved in our community.
I am very ‘results oriented’ and like to get things done.
Nell Carter (Labour)
I have lived in Cheshire East with my family since 1995 and I love being part of my community in such a beautiful location.
However, I share concerns with our Labour councillors about the decline in quality of local services such as roads and school transport, combined with more congestion on the A6 and surrounding roads and increasing air pollution.
I recognise there are some very difficult years ahead for everyone when recent Conservative failures begin to impact our local community with tax increases and cuts in services at the same time.
This has prompted me to seek election in Disley because I feel that my previous experience on Cheshire County Council and many years working in education have given me the right blend of skills and motivation to make a difference for Disley and take forward the ideas and concerns of local residents.
