Bolsover Lantern Parade is one of the UK’s biggest and longest running light processions, and it returns later this month.
Established in 1994, the parade lights up the streets of the historic town with hundreds of community lanterns and many visitors coming along to watch the spectacle.
The creativity of generations of people from Bolsover has made it one of the biggest and longest-running light processions in the UK.
For the month prior to the parade, people coming together to create the lanterns at community and school workshops.
“We have had some amazing creations over the years including a giant Buzz Light Year, a steam train, an articulated, smoke-breathing dragon, a spaceman, a Paddington Bear and Stitch,” a spokesperson said.
Starting at Bolsover Castle, the stunning light show, featuring community-made lanterns, will travel through the town creating a beautiful event which culminates at the cenotaph for Christmas carols.
This year’s event takes place from 5pm on 29 November 2025.
