Ashton Hayes Theatre Club’s next production, Jerusalem, is being performed between the 6th and 11th of February 2023 at Tarvin Community Centre.
The play, by Jez Butterworth, has been hailed as “the 21st Century’s best play” and has recently completed a sell-out run at The Apollo Theatre in London’s West End, starring Mark Rylance and Mackenzie Crook.
A spokesperson said: “The play takes place on St George’s Day, the morning of the local county fair, and Johnny Byron is a wanted man.
“The council officials want to serve him an eviction notice, his son wants his dad to take him to the fair, Troy Whitworth wants to wreak his revenge and a motley crew of mates wants his ample supply of drugs and alcohol.”
Ashton Hayes Theatre Club is an award-winning community theatre group, now celebrating its 65th year.
They are delighted to be the first non-professional club to secure the rights to Jerusalem since its latest West End run in August 2022.
