The annual Alderley Edge Village Show, organised by the Alderley Edge Allotments and Gardens Society, will take place on Saturday 31st August.

Doors at the Festival Hall will open to the public at 12 noon.

Show committee chair, Mike Ockelton commented: “Our fabulous cafe, which has become a popular meeting place, will be open all afternoon until 4pm serving tea, coffee and a selection of beautiful homemade cakes.”

He added: “Last year we were bursting at the seams so this time, to accommodate 113 show classes, we have also taken over the Emerson Suite to make this year’s event the best ever.”

This year’s categories comprise: Flowers, Fruit & Vegetables, Domestic Crafts, Photography, Paintings, Baking and Preserves as well as the Young Persons section and Newcomers classes.

Anyone in the local area can take part and you don’t have to be an allotment holder.

“All we ask is that all produce is grown by you in your own garden, allotment, back yard or even on a window sill,” explained Mike.

“Exhibits for the other classes must your own work which have not been exhibited at this show before.”

“Above all, it’s a lot of fun and a real village day out – why not put in an exhibit?”

Entry costs £1 for adults or 50p for accompanied children.
