Knutsford Academy students film at Knutsford Market Hall

Shares

A group of year 12 media students from Knutsford Academy visited Knutsford Market Hall on Friday last week to document a ‘typical’ afternoon at the market.

The idea behind the filming was two-fold: firstly, to have an archive of Knutsford Market Hall as it is now (pending the potential re-development) to be kept for posterity, and secondly for Knutsford Town Council to have a series of videos featuring each of the traders that can be used across social media and other platforms.

Sandra Curties, Knutsford Town Council’s town centre manager visited the school earlier in the month to brief the students on what was required.

The students then worked together to film scenes at the market, before putting each trader at ease so they were ready for the one-to-one filming.

Gareth Barker, media teacher at the academy said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our year 12 media students to have some hands-on experience and produce something worthwhile for our local community.”

Helena Searle, one of the students, commented: “This project has been a real eye opener to both the practicalities of filming and the importance of engaging with your audience.”

The finished video footage will be used across the Market Hall’s social media accounts and website in the coming months.
