RBS has announced that seven of its branches in Cheshire will be closing by the end of the year, including its London Road branch in Alderley Edge which will leave the village with just one bank, Barclays.
RBS said: “Closing a branch is a decision we take very seriously. We know it can affect people in the local area and we’ll always work hard to guide you through the changes and find the best way to serve you.”
It added: “The world of banking has changed a lot lately and the changes show no sign of slowing down.”
The bank cited reasons including more customers doing their day-to-day banking online, by mobile app, or over the phone as well as fewer people visiting branches – doing fewer transactions when they’re there.
