Knutsford Market Hall is set to host a gardening talk entitled Potting and Planning, led by renowned horticulturist and former Tatton Park head gardener, Sam Youd.
The event takes place on 23 September 2026 and focusses on preparing your garden for the colder months and planning for spring.
Youd will inspire attendees through things like winter potting and protecting tender plants, and the session will conclude with an audience Q&A.
The talk is suitable for all abilities of gardener – whether a seasoned horticulturalist or a novice.
The session runs from 1pm to 3pm, and will provide practical advice on how to make the most of an outdoor space, no matter the size.
Youd brings a wealth of experience, having begun his career as an apprentice at the Queen’s estate.
He has travelled the world lecturing internationally, and exhibited at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
He was Tatton Park’s head gardener for 32 years and is an RHS associate of honour.
“I am delighted to host this afternoon talk at the market hall,” he said.
“All are welcome, from seasoned gardeners and for those who are new to all things horticultural. The talk will be informative, with plenty of time for questions plus a mystery quiz!”
Knutsford town centre manager Sandra Curties added: “We are so pleased to welcome Sam once again.
“Not only is he a world class gardening expert, but he is also a regular market hall shopper, and we are so grateful to him for giving up his time.
“We anticipate tickets will go very quick so book as soon as possible.”
The event is capped at 50 attendees, with tickets priced at £7 each.
Water will be available, and attendees are welcome to bring their own drinks and lunch with them or purchase from nearby cafes.
