Burton to shine bright with Canvas of Light show this December

Burton is set to be lit up for the festive season like never before, with the launch of a brand new light trail.

Canvas of Light, by Luxmuralis, is an immersive experience which will transform two of the town’s most iconic heritage buildings for three evenings this winter.

Residents and visitors will be invited to explore the spectacular light projections, free of charge, from 18th to 20th December.

It is taking place at St Modwen’s Church and the Bass Water Tower – with immersive projections, being brought together by a trail of light and colour through the recently enhanced Memorial Gardens which link the two landmarks.

The installation showcases Burton in a completely new way, celebrating the town’s heritage with a festive, contemporary event.

Visitors can wander along the illuminated trail, take in the sights and enjoy a festive night market filled with seasonal treats, local stalls and live entertainment.

Children will also have the chance to meet Santa and his elves in the library.

Cllr Paul Walker, cabinet member for tourism and cultural development, said: “Burton is undergoing so many exciting changes, and Canvas of Light is a brand-new way to celebrate the town this festive season.

“It’s the first time we’ve hosted an event like this, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to see our landmarks in a completely new light.

“The trail, projections, and festive activities come together to create something truly special for the community.”

Canvas of Light runs from 5pm until 8pm on 18th, 19th and 20th December.
