The Mercatum Christmas artisan markets are returning to Haddon Hall, opening from 12th November.
Set within and around the 900-year-old Derbyshire manor house, and extending into its gardens, the Mercatum has grown to become one of the East Midlands’ most beloved festive events.
This year’s markets promise more than 250 different artisans and makers and will run for five weeks.

Organises say each trader is carefully selected for their exceptional talent and quality, offering everything from handmade ceramics, jewellery and textiles, to fine chocolate, perfume, woven goods and one-of-a-kind seasonal treasures.
Visitors will be able to wander through Haddon Hall’s Tudor and Elizabethan rooms, dressed for the season with greenery, in candlelight and richly decorated trees.

The lower courtyard will be transformed into a twinkling alpine village, complete with wooden chalets and live music.
In the food and drink hall, visitors can find artisan producers offering warming treats and delicacies to take home or enjoy on the day – from handcrafted fudge and cheese to small-batch spirits and seasonal preserves. There will also be seating available indoors.

In the stable studio, daily craft demonstrations will see guests invited to savour the joy of making.
Guests will be able to watch traditional techniques in action, including basket weaving and wreath-making, all offered at free drop-in sessions throughout the day.

“Over the past few years, Mercatum has become a treasured part of the season,” Lady Edward Manners said, “not only for the quality of our artisans but for the joy and wonder visitors find here.
“With the hall dressed in its festive best, and so much to discover, we look forward to welcoming guests from near and far to experience the magic of Christmas at Haddon.”
