Bluebell walks at Rode Hall

Shares

Visitors to Rode Hall this spring can experience one of the finest bluebell walks in the North West as they take a magical stroll through the Grade II listed park and gardens.

Bosses at Rode Hall say it is one of the finest times to visit the grounds, designed by Humphry Repton, and soak up the incredible colours of bluebells and spring flowers at their best.

Shimmering bluebell carpets cover the ground of the Old Wood, while stunning wildflowers decorate the Wild Garden along with a blaze of colour from rare early Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Chilean Fire Bushes.

You can enjoy the tranquil views over Rode Pool and unrivalled vistas of the beautiful Cheshire and Staffordshire countryside.

Rode’s bluebells are predominantly the endangered and protected ancient native variety, which flower on one side of the stalk. They are strongly perfumed and can also appear as a white or pinkish flower.

Highlights of a visit also include the two-acre Walled Garden, resplendent in spring blossom from the many varieties of pear, apple and plum trees – with an abundance of vegetable seedlings too.

Visitors can purchase Rode Hall’s fragrant Lily of the Valley as well as bright primulas and pelargoniums to plant at home.

Families will love exploring and playing in the different landscapes – children’s imaginations will be sparked by the willow animal sculpture trail, the 200-year-old grotto (hidden in the Wild Garden) and the waterfall.

Children can hunt for the willow animal sculptures along the walk, spot butterflies amongst the flowers as well as heron and carp in the lake.

Randle Baker Wilbraham, owner of Rode Hall said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors of all ages to come and experience the beautiful bluebell walks in the enchanting gardens here at Rode.

“We hope that everyone will have a special day out… we love sharing this unforgettable time of year.”
