“It’s more than just a shop!”
Based on (no prizes for guessing) the second floor of 19A Upper Northgate Street, The 2nd Floor in Chester is opening this Saturday (7th April) and is set to bring a hub of creativity to the heart of the city centre.
Located above the new Sak’s Hairdressers and the respectable Minerva Lodge Tattoo Club, the new store will feature a collection of clothing by established local independent brands.
These include ‘Junkbox’ by Carrie Hyndman – a fashion label specialising in streetwear apparel for skaters, surfers, and snowboarders – and ‘The Grunge Monkey’ by Kimberley Anderson – a fun and playful fashion brand, with a mission to inspire young girls and women to take life less seriously and to love who they are inside and out.
The 2nd Floor will also be home to a collection of local artists’ and makers’ work from around the North West.
Owners Kim and Carrie promised: “It’s going to be your new favourite hangout.”
They explained: “You will also be able to grab a hot drink, play some foosball and board games or read a book.”
They will also be hosting the re-launch of The Bandstand, a local initiative to provide a platform for the independent music scene in Chester where visitors can listen to and purchase local musicians’ work.
Filled with exciting and interesting finds, the new creative space and hang out aims to provide a little bit of something for everyone whilst also filling a gap in Chester’s limited ‘alternative’ shopping scene.
The 2nd Floor’s launch date is this Saturday, and guests on the day can see the finished article, have a drink and listen to some music from Chester favourites Ennio the Little Brother, Campfire Social and Sustinere.
