Shaun, the man behind the much-loved @WilmslowWeather account on Twitter, is on a fundraising mission this year.
The early morning runs, pouring rain, aching limbs and bothersome blisters won’t be stopping Shaun, 35, as he takes on training for this year’s London Marathon for national disability charity SENSE.
Shaun hopes that with the support of local residents, Twitter followers, friends and family, he will be able to raise £1,500 for SENSE.
As part of his fundraising efforts, he has also organised a charity race night to be held at The Stanneylands on Friday 9th March.
The evening, starting at 7pm, will be a fun, family-friendly and social night out.
Shaun commented: “I am thrilled to be running the London Marathon in aid of SENSE.
“This is one of the toughest, yet most exhilarating challenges of my life.
“Knowing the money I raise will be used to improve the lives of people with severe sensory disabilities throughout the UK is the best part of all.”
He explained: “I’m taking part in the London Marathon for SENSE because I really believe in their cause. Their mission is simple – to make sure no one with complex communication needs is isolated, left out or unable to fulfil their potential.
“For over 60 years, Sense has developed an unrivalled depth of knowledge, skill and expertise to unlock the barriers to communication.
“Everyday things like having a conversation, enjoying friendships and living independently become possible with the Sense approach.
“I am especially pleased to be putting on this race night as part of my fundraising. It’s a fantastic opportunity to have a great night out in the impressively refurbished Stanneylands Hotel in Wilmslow.
“It will be an entertaining evening, a chance to get your friends together, and if you are lucky with the horses you may even go home in profit!”
The event is open to all as a family friendly event.
Tickets cost £10 which includes a selection of light bites. Under 13s are free, although all donations would be greatly appreciated.
