BBC Radio 2: Sounds Of The 80s Live – with mastermixes and dancers
BBC Radio 2 legend Gary Davies is taking the UK’s biggest 80s radio show on tour this summer.
He’ll be bringing his Sounds Of The 80s show to various locations across the country – including venues in Derbyshire, Hampshire and Nottinghamshire.
It’s the show that listeners enjoy every Saturday night – the only difference is it’ll be live on stage!
Gary, along with producer Johnny California, will be celebrating the greatest decade in music with an immersive show including some specially curated mastermixes.
Sounds Of The 80s dancers will get everyone on their feet recreating classic scenes from 80s films and videos – and the show also features an incredible set design from the 80s.
Gary commented: “I’m so excited to finally be able to bring the magic of Sounds of the 80s live on tour across the UK – as we all know, the 80s is the best decade.
“Expect anthems, mastermixes, sloppy bits, fabulous dancers and the biggest 80s party ever!”
There’ll be songs from iconic artists such as Wham!, Queen, Prince, Madonna, Whitney Houston and many more.
Gary Davies’ star was at its peak in the 80s, during those heady days as a presenter on BBC Radio 1 and Top of the Pops, when he discovered and championed many of the acts he now plays out on his programme.
He was one of the first to offer mainstream backing to the likes of U2, Chris Rea, Deacon Blue, Tears For Fears and Simple Minds – making him the perfect choice to host Radio 2’s Sounds Of The 80s (8-10pm, Saturdays).
The Sounds Of The 80s live show debuted at Stoke-on-Trent’s Regent Theatre last year to a packed crowd dressed up to the nines in lycra leg warmers, headbands, statement tshirts.
