All of Susie Watson’s nine showrooms (soon to be ten) are situated in beautiful locations around the UK.
From the fashionable Montpellier Quarter in Harrogate to the coastal resort of Salcombe, no two stores are the same.
We caught up with Susie ahead of the opening of her Knutsford store to find out a little bit about how she started her business and how she draws inspiration for her collections.
It was the idea of art in the everyday that first inspired me to design a range of kitchen china; a beautiful mug can bring just as much pleasure as a piece of art on the wall.
By this point, I was almost fifty and increasingly aware that time was running out if I was going to start a business from scratch.
The past twenty years have flown by and the business has grown from tableware into a whole range of fabric, furniture and home furnishings.
My collections are made for kitchen living and modern family life. I believe in the importance of colour to provide a warm and welcoming feel.
My influences are drawn from the English Countryside and its seasons and many of my designs have a quintessentially English feel.
All our products have been handmade with dedication and care by a team of highly skilled individuals who take great pride in their work.
I have a deep-rooted belief in fair-trade, and we strive to produce products at a price that is fair to both the manufacturer and to our customers.
Coming to Knutsford
As part of a strategy to expand our network of stores, Knutsford has been on my radar for some time.
Not only voted the best place to live in the north west of England by the Sunday Times Best Places to Live, it is only an hour from Manchester city centre and easily accessible from Cheshire, Liverpool and North Wales.
The town has a real buzz about it, with great shopping and restaurant and good transport links too – all the things I look for in a town.
Our store is centrally located right in a busy section of the King street, with lots of airy, open-plan space to showcase our living, dining and bedroom spaces, as well as our broad selection of home accessories.
Large hanging samples of all our fabrics and wallpapers and a large selection of cushions and throws make this a lovely place to explore ideas and create mood boards with our in-store interior design team.
The new store will be opening at 44 King Street in Knutsford, and is expected to be open from 30th March.
Opening hours: 9.30am-5.30pm
